If you’ve recently torn your meniscus, don’t worry, at Vishal Pai, we are here to help you streamline your recovery process. The meniscus is a piece of cartilage in your knee that helps as a cushion and stabilises your knee joint. A tear can happen from twisting suddenly, especially during sports or heavy lifting. In simple words, a meniscus tear occurs from receiving trauma to your knee. They can also occur if the quality of your tissue in the meniscus has become weak.

There are few symptoms from which you can derive that if you’re having a meniscus tear in your knee or not. Such as, pain and swelling within the knee, popping sensation, difficulty while moving your knee, etc. With an unstable tear the torn meniscus may extrude into the joint and block you from fully straightening your knee. This is referred to as a locked knee and must be assessed on a semi-urgent basis.
